Light Up UCF

The twins brought home free ice skating passes from school because they had each read three books. We headed over to Light Up UCF so they could do some ice skating.

We had to ride some rides too:)

James was even old enough to try out the ice slide this year!

James gave us a repeat performance of the songs he sang at his Christmas recital this morning. Brace yourself....he gets his singing voice from me:-/

Christmas Recital

There was a time when I did not think James would ever go to school. I was googling things like "sudden toddler anxiety".  I was worried.

And then I watched him get up on stage in front of all the parents of the preschool and sing. His class sang "Twinkle, Twinkle, Christmas Star" and "Jesus Loves Me".

I took a big breath in and exhaled. He is his own person and he does struggle with some anxieties. But he is going to school, making friends and he is soooo happy:)

The video isn't very good but I keep watching it over and over again....

I knew I had a picture of Thomas in the exact same outfit from 2008:)

Crazy Christmas Lights

I keep thinking of all the thought that goes into just one morning...

What's the weather going to be like? Are the kids dressed warmly enough? Does their cereal have too much sugar? Did each of them eat breakfast? Did they get enough sleep? Do I have enough fruit and veggies packed in their lunches? Did they do their homework? Am I forgetting anything?

Then you drop them off at school and there is a certain amount of security you feel...knowing they are heading off to a teacher that is there to teach them; surrounded by friends. Your biggest worry is if they will do okay on their spelling test.

Today every parent realized what a false sense of security that it. Their worst nightmare played out in a quaint town. The unimaginable happened.

Tony and I talked to the twins about what happened. Answered questions as best we could and reassured them. I know they will continue to ask questions and I hope we can find a way as a family to do something for the families that lost a loved one today. The twins never cease to amaze me. We were sitting at dinner and a teacher from the school in Connecticut was on the news explaining how she had piled her class into a small bathroom and waited. Thomas listened and then said, "That teacher is like the captain on the Titanic. She stayed with her ship."

We knew we wanted to take their mind off of the news and celebrate the season. We decided to do one of our favorite Christmas traditions. Every year, we get hot chocolate and drive to see the crazy Christmas lights. It was a simple, fun night:)

I know I will be hugging these three tightly tonight.

Orange Blossom Cannonball

Tonight we went on a Christmas train ride on the Orange Blossom Cannonball.

We boarded the train in Tavares and took a 50 minute ride to the 'North Pole'. The staff passed out cookies and hot chocolate and the whole train sang Christmas songs. James loved the Conductor who walked around and punched the tickets. The windows are open and its a pretty ride.

Santa boards the train and passes out jingle bells. When Santa came a little closer to us, James turned to me and said, "I do NOT want him to hold me."

"Ok, Jo Jo."

He paused and said, "You promise mama?"

I knew Santa was not going to be able to get too close. Thomas and Stella gave Santa a hug and James took a good look. In the end, James was happy he got to see Santa and get a jingle bell.

Busy Weekend

It was a big weekend for the twins. Thomas had his playoffs on Saturday and won...and then played again on Sunday and won! Look at the size of the trophy!

Stella and I spent some girl time on Sunday at the theater with her girl scout troop.

Stella and some of her girl scouts at dinner after the show.
Busy, busy, busy but all fun stuff!!
