Vintage Book Baby Shower

Our very dear friend, Aunt Lynn, is having a baby and it could be the most anticipated baby of the year! My friend Michelle and I were so thrilled to put together a baby shower that she would love. We decided on a vintage book themed shower since Aunt Lynn is a teacher. Of course, I started with a Pinterest board and we went from there. Michelle was able to make this invitation. I found this one on Pinterest (It didn't have an original source) and she changed the colors to pink and brown. She even found those old school holders that are found in the back of library books. Needless to say, the invitations were perfect!!
I only made one small craft. We kept the decoration simple and pretty; lots of fresh flowers and old vintage books. I did see these book flowers and had to make some. The tutorial can be found here.

When the guests arrived, they brought a book instead of a card. We had a station set up where the guests could get a sticker and write a note to the baby. Kelli at Seasonal Delights made these amazing stickers and they were perfect!! Her etsy shop can be found here.

The decorations were simple and pretty. Book flowers and vintage parenting books.

Stella helped me do most of the setting up while the boys spent the day at Kennedy Space Center.

The cake was from Publix and the amazing cake decorator made this adorable stack of books. I basically told her the colors were pink and brown and the theme was vintage books. She created this masterpiece. I love the Dr. Seuss quote: "The more you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you will go." Enjoy the journey with baby Joss!

We were under strict instructions: NO GAMES. Ha! Well, we had to do just one 'activity' that we thought was not too 'baby shower-ish'. I found this on the internet (and I can not remember where). The guests were given piles of nickels and we read the below items. If they had done those things, they put a nickel in a piggy bank for the baby. It turned out cute:)

Guest left with these funky bookmarks (made by Michelle). We stuck with the book theme until the end:)

Before Bedtime

There is so much I love about this video. My favorite time of day has always been after baths when the kiddos are in their pj's, winding down a bit. I love the way James looks up to Thomas. Thomas is such a good big brother and I love watching them interact. They knew I was taking a video of them reading, but I love capturing our simple but wonderful life:)

You Tube

Thomas loves to watch Star Wars Lego videos on youtube. He watches these young boys show off their Lego collections. Well, of course James wants to do anything that Thomas does so he will watch too. Here is James showing off Thomas' newest Lego:)

I just love his little voice:

Carnival Themed Party

Thomas and Stella agreed on a carnival themed party. I started with a Pinterest board and then chose the invites.

I contacted Erin at Lex Designs and she created this amazing invitation!

I loved her work so much, I ordered these adorable water bottle stickers. Such a fun detail for the party!

There was a can toss...

...tarp throw (made by Papa!!).... bowl toss...

...bounce house...

....face painting and PONY rides!
The food was all fair food: pizza, corn dogs, caramel apples, popcorn, cotton candy.

Even the ferris wheel cupcakes went with the theme.

We sugared the kids up and then sent them home with a prize, popcorn and a fish!

Such a fun day with friends and family.

Check Ups

This week the twins had their 8 year old check ups.

The doctor didn't tell me anything I already didn't know.

They are perfect.

Easter 2012

Easter 2009:

Easter 2012:

Me, my mama and my bunny:

We had such a nice Easter. The kiddos woke up to some Easter fun at our house and then round two happened at Papa and Gigi's for a dee-lish Easter dinner.

The Easter Bunny brought Stella not one but two giant bunny's. She has both of them in bed as I type this. My bunny loves a giant bunny!

Oh and in other news, Stella turned into a teenager overnight.

Easter was egg-hausting!

Such a beautiful sunny Florida day! It felt wonderful to be with my family and our family friends who are like family and celebrate!!

Happy Easter!
