Six Months Old

Today James is six months old. I look at him and can not believe that we are half way to one year old. James has brought so much joy to our house. Stella and Thomas welcomed their younger brother with open arms and they still accept him with such grace. They understand they need to be quiet when he is sleeping. They let him grab at their faces because "babies show love by touching". They want to feed him, entertain him, love him.

James has given Tony and me the chance to parent one baby at a time. I can only speak for myself but the experience has been amazing. I know James so well....really know his moods and wants and needs. It actually makes me feel guilty that it took me longer with twins to know these things about them. I will say I am not owning any of that guilt though:-)

James is the frosting on the cake. He is like finding a twenty dollar bill in your pocket. He is an unexpected rainbow over the ocean. We had an amazing family before he born and I wondered how it would change. These past six months, I have watched as each of our hearts have swelled to a larger size. James is the reason.

I love you my Jojo, Coco Pops, Jimmy Jam, Monkey Butt!

Divorce 101

Last night we were looking at old pictures. Pictures from when I was a baby, when my mom got married and even when my Grandma Audrey got married. My parents divorced when I was very young. Gigi (my mom) is now married to Papa and Cappy (my dad) is now married to Diane.

Stella was looking at a picture of Gigi on her wedding day and she asked, "Where's Papa"?

I said, "Well, that picture is when Gigi was marrying Cappy".

Stella pauses, sets down the picture and says, "Then WHAT is she doing living with Papa"?

Art Projects

The twins brought home their first art project. They made faces out of scraps of paper.

Stella said she made Daddy and I actually see a resemblance.

I am not sure who Thomas made but he quickly told us it was upside down...

There are actually two small yellow scraps of paper for eyes and he explained that the black long thing was the persons throat. He also made two 'spots' on the side of the throat to help you swallow. Awwww....making his Speech Pathologist mama proud:-)

New Skills

James has been so busy lately acquiring new skills. He is grabbing, eating, jumping and singing.

He loves his food (just like his brother Thomas did). Look at the little birdie trying to grab the spoon from Grandma Stella.

I have a little video to show the jumping and the singing. Some of his singing sounds like an owl:

But mostly it sounds like this:

Sibling Dynamics

As we are enjoying some dessert and final playing around for the night, I can not help but notice the dynamics amongst them.

Brother and brother. Thomas teaches and guides. He will stop at nothing to make James laugh. James looks at him and tries to please him already by smiling. As Thomas runs circles around James, James carefully takes note and will try to catch up soon.

Sister and brother. Stella and James laugh and laugh. She nutures him and takes care of him. James recognizes how silly she can be and he starts. They always end up laughing. James watches Stella's mouth when she sings and I can tell we are going to have another performer around here.

Twins. Brother and sister. They fit together like puzzle pieces. They are drawn to each other like a magnectic force and understand the rules of a made up game without even saying it out loud. They have never been without each other and they still complete each other.

My three amazing children!

The Many Looks of James

So shy....

My big boy!

Last year it was a princess party and this year, her first sleepover.

The girls showed up in their pjs and there was plenty of giggling and girl time. Stella went without ever looking back. Did I expect anything less?
