I love, love the Desmond and Penny story and was so happy to see them have a baby...although....really? ~push~ ~push~ and then Penny delivers a baby? (Awwww....Charlie!)
Desmond is traveling to Oxford to find Daniel Faraday's mother. I hope we find out if the creepy white haired lady at the end of the last show is Daniel's mom. And, you know that once Desmond said, "Why would I ever want to go back to the island?"....he is sooo going back to the island.
Once Desmond gets to the Oxford, he does not find any record of any Faraday. He visits the lab and begins to poke around. Who was in the picture with Daniel? Was that the new chick on the island? Who is Teresa? Teresa is "jumping"...one minute she is 3 yrs old, the next she is talking to her dead father? The new girl on the island with blond hair...her name was Ellie. Daniel's mother's name is Eloise. Any chance that is young Mama Faraday?
I was so upset when Desmond went to see Charles Whitmore. I do not want that man to mess up Desmond and Penny's relationship. I think Mr. Whitmore is bad news! It is so hard to determine who is good vs. bad on this show!
Now, why is Daniel so concerned about Charlotte. He obviously knows what is happening to her. I do not think for one second that Daniel loves Charlotte but she needs to believe that to stay alive. Daniel is trying to be Charlotte's 'constant'.
Richard, the man who never ages, is with a camp full of Others who have been attacked by an American army. They speak Latin?? What year is it?? My mind is spinning? John calls The Others, 'his people'? I love how John just marches in to talk to Richard. Now this is making me crazy...Richard tells John that they begin the selection process to pick their leader at a very young age and John tells him his birth date and invites him to come visit. Was John asked to become the leader of The Others because he actually sets himself up for that? Follow me?
Then, the bomb!!!
Did you say your name was Whitmore?
Charles Whitmore?
Yes, whats it to you??
Oh. My. Goodness!! It is moments like this that keep me watching the show:-)
There is a great summary here. Trust me, I need all the help I can get!

Okay. I'm going to have to start reading your summaries after the show! I totally missed the "Eloise" thing. And I must be brain dead to not get the logic behind John asking Richard to visit him. But remember, Richard does visit John when John was about 8? He came to his house and put objects on the table and asked him to pick one or something and wasn't it a gun? I may be off here..
LOL!! He does come visit with John around the age of 8. I think that Richard asks him to pick something, doesn't John pick the compass but the correct answer is the gun?? I am going on memory here so I could be wrong! I am sure that all means something but it is way too late for me:-)
You're right on the Ellie = Eloise = Mrs Faraday.
Come read my lost post here.

The other line that I found interesting was when Desmond find Faraday's lab and the janitor(?) says to him... they say he was trying to make the mice's MINDS go back in time.
Are we going to find out that everyone is not actually on the island that is all some sort of mental transport thing?
I love your take on things...and happy to find another Lostaholic!
I will try to answer one of your questions, but I probably am way off. You seem to have a better grip than me.....lol.
"Was John asked to become the leader of The Others because he actually sets himself up for that?"
I think John Locke tells Richard his birthdate to prove he is from the future and John knows that Richard can time travel (based on his conversation with him last week)...and Richard does show up at the hospital when John Locke was born. Remember his mom was young and gave him up for adoption?
eek! Too much head spinning this morning.
I dabbled in some theories myself if you want to visit.
Have a great day!

Locke chose the knife, but the correct answer was the compass (but we didn't find that out until last week). My husband pointed out that because Locke told Richard where and when he was born, Richard was able to visit him in the hospital.
We are guessing that Widmore somehow got kicked off the island and now wants to kill the Others in retaliation. Even when he was young he was pretty belligerent.
I agree with the Ellie/Faraday's mom thing, but that raises the question of if Widmore wants to kill the others, why does he not care about killing Ellie? She obviously is still friendly with Ben and by extension The Others. Another question is, how did Faraday get to the island the first time: was he employed by Dharma, or did HE time travel?
Don't forget... the creepy white haired lady (Mrs. Eloise Hasting?) was in the past. She was in the jewelry store and convinced Desmond not to marry Penny. And I do think we'll find her to be both the young Ellie on the island and Farraday's mom.
