Mean Girls - Age 4

I have watched the movie Mean Girls and I know how mean girls really can be. I never thought I would hear about it from my daughter at the age of four.

Stella has this friend who is in her class at school, M. Stella and M are buddies and they do a lot of bonding over princesses. Occasionally, all of the four year olds go out to the same playground at the same time.

Stella and M are playing together and M's friend G comes over. G only wants to play with M and not Stella. Stella suggests that they all play together. G tells Stella she only wants to play with M and not Stella. She tells Stella she does not want to play with her because she thinks Stella is ugly.

Oh my goodness. I have never wanted to take another child aside and a threaten her life so badly!!!

I composed myself after Stella told me this story and I explained that she should continue to tell G and M that they can all play together.

Well, a week or two goes by and Stella tells me that she sees G again on the playground. G will walk up to Stella and M and grab M's hand and pull her away from Stella.

This situation makes me crazy! How can this little snot be so mean??

Stella told me that G does not bother her anymore. G and M play on the playground together and Stella plays with other kids. I think I am going to talk to the teacher.

Baby Names

I have been getting very strong urges to buy some things for the baby. I really want to know if we are having a boy or a girl because with the twins, I kept things pretty gender neutral. If it a girl, I want to do all pink and if it is a boy...all blue.

We also have been talking baby names. I love baby names...have you ever read Swistle's Baby Names...a blog all about them! So great!

If we have a boy we have some names that both of us like....Henry, James and Anthony are on the top of the list. Our issue is with girl names. I feel like I have our girl name picked out....Lila Rose. Tony is not a fan of the name Lila. I love it and think it goes with....Stella, Thomas and Lila.

So...we need some suggestions for good boy names and girl names. What are your favorites?

Soccer Superstar

Papa drove over this morning to see Stella's dance class and Thomas' first soccer game. Stella loved having Papa watch her. She was so proud. We then drove over to Thomas' soccer game. I should say that last year, the Green Gators did not score one goal all year long. Today Thomas was the soccer superstar of the Purple Piranhas. Keep your eye on number four:

Thomas scored at least three times! He loved playing today and was so happy to have Papa, Grandma Stella and Grandpa Kerry there!

I have survived my slight meltdown. I called in sick to work and my boss was pretty understanding. I do hope it was sincere.

The kids are feeling better too! I thought I would share this cute video from our recent trip to Buffalo. My sisters were trying to teach the twins how to play the Hannah Montana Wii game. So cute!!!

Anatomy of a Meltdown

9:00 pm - Kids go to bed. Stella has an ear infection and both kids are tired. They are both quiet.

9:10 pm - I begin to fold laundry, check e-mail, feed my facebook addiction, do some work.

11:00 pm - I move into our bedroom and try to catch something good on TV...maybe The Soup is on?

11:05 pm - Stella is up and wants to lay with me. She has only had one dose of her antibiotic and I am sure her ear still hurts.

11:30 pm - I put her back to bed and she falls back to sleep.

12:00 am- I finally go to bed...lights off.

1:10 am - Stella cries. I go in and talk to her for a bit. She falls back to sleep.

2:00 am - Thomas is up and crying. Wait, Thomas?? Why is he crying?? Not sure but he feels warm. I give him Tylenol and he falls back to sleep.

3:30 am - Thomas is up again. He has peed through his pull up onto his pj's and sheets. Everything needs to be changed and he has not peed at night in forever...he feels terrible and is still crying.

4:00 am- Back to bed for all of us.

4:01 am - I remember I have an early meeting at work that is looming over my head. Also, how am I ever going to do this with a new baby again? I begin to cry.

4:30 am - Stella up and crying. I give her Tylenol for the pain and she goes back to sleep.

5:15 am -Thomas is up crying...he can't tell me what is wrong but he does not feel good, I can tell.

5:30 am -I lie in bed and wonder how I am going to function tomorrow at work. Can I call in sick? I have to get up in 30 minutes. Should I just get in the shower now? Again, can't I just call in sick? I really just want to take care of the kids if they are sick.

6:09 am - Stella crawls in bed with me. I get up to send off some e-mails. I am not going to work today and I realize that there may be some consequences.

7:00 am - Everyone is up but I am tired. Movies, some juice and TLC....I think everyone needs some.

This Time Around

This time around, my pregnancy has been so different from my first. I was so sick with the twins and I remember thinking the sickness would never end.

This time around, I tend to be sicker in the evening.

Cravings...this time around I am craving bread, bread, and bread. I can eat grilled cheese and falafel's. The sight or smell of any type of meat sends me into dry heaves.

This time around, I am four years older than I was before and the fatigue is kicking my butt.

I have written before about work and how I do not work in an environment that is supportive of working mothers. This semester is tough. I have more early meetings than ever. I feel like people are waiting for me to fail at work.

This time around, I do not care.

I have had babies before and I know how quickly the time passes. This time around, my priorities are crystal clear. Work is work but having a baby is a miracle and I am enjoying every last second of it this time around.

Saturday Mornings

This is the first time that the twins have done different activities. Stella has chosen to do dance and Thomas wanted to do soccer. Our Saturday mornings are busy but we figure better do it now before the new baby comes!

The picture is not great....but here is Stella at dance. She loved it even more this week.

Thomas finally had his first soccer practice...he did great. He really seemed to know what he was doing this time around.

Princess Party

Tonight was our friend, Ellyse's 4th birthday party. Stella has been talking about this princess party for weeks and she wanted to get ready very early this morning.

The girls were greeted by a red carpet!!

There was nail painting, make up wearing and cake of course!

The girls even ate around the big dining room table!

Stella's very good friend Claire was there and they could not be separated all night.

As Stella was the best party ever!!

Stella picks a dandelion.

I tell her, "Make a wish, Bunny."

She squeezes her bright blue eyes closed and softly whispers, "I wish I can fly."

Buffalo Trip

We are home from our wonderful trip to Buffalo and it was a whirlwind! It was raining at first so we headed to the Strong Museum of Play in Rochester.

If you can not tell how much fun it was, check out our pictures from the trip there and back:

The next day we headed to Niagara Falls!

We had a fun family picnic too!

What do kids do with an open field full of geese??

And of course...digging for candy in some hay!

On our final day there we went to the Buffalo Zoo!

The twins visited with both of thier great grandmothers and great grandfather too!

Other than that, Stella was busy with Charlie and Maddie....

...or getting a pedicure.

There were cars to be washed....

...and ice cream to be eaten.

The best part was just being around family!!

The twins listening to Cappy explain why they should vote for Obama.
