New Hair - Yay or Nay?

I was growing my hair but I have decided to chop it all off. It is lighter and much shorter. I (think) I have resigned to embracing my new curls. My hair was pretty straight before I had the twins and now it will not straighten no matter what I try.

Where are all the Mother's???

Today I watched Bambi with the kids.

It is still as sad as I remember.

As Bambi's momma was shot and killed in the pasture, I started to think: Who will cuddle up with Bambi when it storms again? Who will encourage him to go and speak to that cute little deer? Who will take care of Bambi when he is sick? Hungry?

Don't even get me started on Disney movies and mothers.

Nemo's momma...killed in the first couple minutes.

Ariel....where is her mom???

Belle is being raised a single dad and Mrs. Jumbo was institutionalized for trying to protect her baby.

Snow White and Cinderella's mothers die and Sleeping Beauty's momma sends her away. I mean, what does Disney have against mothers anyway?

Then...my mind began to wander. We watch Max and Ruby. Where is their mother? Why are they home alone. Their grandma lives close by but are they really old enough to be home alone??

At least Dora has a mother. However, what mother in their right mind would let Dora go that far away from home. At least give the kids a cell phone for emergencies!!

My kids have watched all sorts of father roles on movies and TV. They have watched Nemo's dad swim miles and miles to save him, watch the Sea King give up his soul for Ariel and even Goofy...well, goofing around with his son.

When are my kids going to watch a momma? A real one. Now...I know the answer to this...

They are going to watch a real momma at home. Me.

However, it makes me want to write for a morning cartoon show!

Happy Father's Day

Besides being Father's Day, today was the church service at the end of Vacation Bible School.

It was sweet. Now they are fast asleep and Tony is out looking at garage sales. Happy Father's Day Tony!!!!

Silver Springs

We went up to Silver Springs yesterday. It is beautiful!



The first thing we did was take a ride on the glass bottom boats.







The captain took us over each spring and we could see fish and turtles. The kids had fish food in ice cream cones and when they were done feeding the fish, they could throw the cones right in the water. They thought that was the coolest thing.

We then went over to see the animals.







There were so many animals: goats, cows, deer, donkeys, bears, etc. The kids loved it.

There was one ride. You sat in this seat and it took you up 80 feet and turned slowly in the air. Here is the view:



There was also a palm that if you had your picture taken with it, you would have five years of good luck (according to whom, not sure!) but we did it anyway!



There were a ton of alligators and crocodiles. Stella was even able to pet one!



All and all, it was a great day!

Rained Out

Our swim lessons were rained out for the second night a row.

~Grrrr~ Don't you just love Florida weather??

Whale of a Day

Since we bought our Sea World passes, we are going to try to use them! This morning, we headed off for some family fun.

The kids really want to feed the dolphins but the line is always so long. Today we found a great spot to watch people feed the dolphins:







We did feed the seals and sea lions. But there were these aggressive birds that would snatch the fish away. The kids were trying their best to throw the fish to the sea lions.







It was sweltering today so we were looking for chances to get in the air conditioning. We decided to check out the sky tower and cool down.











We walked around and saw some divers looking for pearls.









Stella kept asking if they were mermaids!

We walked towards the kid rides and realized the Shamu show was going to begin. We were seated in the third row but way in the corner. The little whales did their part and then Shamu came out. When is the last time you saw Shamu?? That whale is HUGE!! Well, Shamu took his HUGE fin and promptly splashed the entire lower half of the stadium. We were soaked!

The water park was a must too!







But, our big treat of the day was having lunch at the shark encounter restaurant. Even though we had reservations, we had to wait a bit. Can you think of a way to pass 15 minutes?

Hmm??



















The food was waaaayyyyy overpriced but the sharks kept the kids entertained.

The kids are sound asleep now.

Phew!

What a day!!
