Round three and round four

We had an interesting Halloween.

Round three was at the kids school today. We pulled into the parking lot all dressing in our costumes for the fall festival and Stella started to throw up all over her Dorothy costume. Tony took Thomas into the festival and I took Stella home to get cleaned up.

Stella ran a fever all day but would not hear of not going trick or treating. So on to round four....we went to a couple houses which was loads of fun:

Awwww...look at her flushed cheeks!! I have a feeling we are all taking a sick day tomorrow and getting better. I know I could use one! Thanks Lynn for all your help rallying the troops tonight!!

Here is my Bubba Yub Yub talking about Halloween....and burps of course:-)

Growing up too fast!

Round two

Our usual classes at TNT were suspended for the evening and we had a big festival. The kids dressed up in their costumes and there was a bounce house and tons of games.

They warmed up by doing the Chicken Dance led by....a big chicken!

Keep your eye on Thomas...he doesn't move once! I am going to have to work on his dancing skills:-)

Wrong number

me: Hello?

stupid male: Is this Barney's coffee?

me: No, it's not.

sm: Is this (my phone number)?

me: yes, but this is not Barney's coffee.

sm: I'll be real quick...I just want to see if I can ship some coffee to my parents.

me: This is not Barney's coffee.

sm: Stop it. I need to get it there by tomorrow.

me: Ummmm, I am serious. This is not Barney's coffee. I don't mean to be rude but you are calling my house.

sm: Stop it or I am going to call back and speak to your manager.

What?? Yes, please call back and speak to my manager. I should have taken his credit card number and gone shopping!!

Happy Birthday Cappy!!

Tomorrow is my dad's birthday and we wanted to wish our "Cappy" a very happy day!! We love you!!!

Hey Punkin'

We carved our pumpkins tonight. Tony did the carving...

...and Stella did the gutting.

My Bubba Yub Yub has been running a fever today so he gave his input from his chair.

I love the way he curls up with his butt in the air. He has always slept this way even as a baby.

And this is what we ended up with:

Look at my ears...

Stella has been obsessing over getting her ears pierced. I am not ready for that yet, so someone suggested the earring stickers. What a great idea!

What inspires you?

When I was growing up I was enthralled with my mother. It sounds funny but I was. I found myself watching her every move. I loved to watch her get ready; wearing her white eye shadow and spraying her Liz Claiborne perfume (yes, it was awhile ago). I also loved to go through her purses and paperwork and closets and drawers and her makeup. I watched her at work and at home, with her friends and with our family. I would watch her facial expressions and listen carefully to her words.

Yesterday we were driving to a birthday party and I glanced up in the rear view mirror and saw Stella looking at me. I said, “Bunny, what are you looking at?” and she replied, “You momma.” I instantly had this flood of emotions wash over me.

I will be that person that Stella watches and listens to. I immediately decided I needed to step up my game.

I try to take care of our environment, eat right, live passionately and be kind. However, Stella will be watching me all the time; when I am being kind and also when I am gossiping. She will see the real me. Just like me and my mother, we know each other so well and I guess, at times, that can be scary. When someone knows you so well, they can criticize you and it penetrates your heart. Stella will know the whole me; the good, bad and yes, the ugly. My heart is exposed in the most raw way.

I have watched my mother for 33 years (almost 34 ahhhhh!) and know the woman that she is. I have big shoes to fill because my mother is an amazing person.

Now it is me who is the mother.

It is true what they say; your children inspire you. I was inspired yesterday to be a better person.

To be the person I want my children to be.

What inspires you?

Round one

We went to the first of many Halloween festivities that we have planned. The Orlando Science Center hosted the 4th Annual Spooktacular Science Extravaganza! We packed up Dorothy and my Biker Dude and off we went.

I need to get a better picture because Thomas is wearing a motorcycle and Stella has Toto in a basket.

They had all sorts of crafts to make.

But all the kids really wanted was the candy. Here are the twins making a ghost out of a lollipop:

Jonathan turns 4!

We celebrated Jonathan's birthday at IPEZ today.

Can't you just hear it...Ok, now please turn to the left....now the right.

The kids frequent Monkey Joe's a bunch and this place was very similar.

There were a bunch of kids from school so the kids were really having fun. They already knew each other so they (literally) jumped right in!

Jonathan had a John Deere themed party so Thomas was in heaven!
Here is some cute video of everyone singing to the birthday boy!

Bath time

Bath time is one of my favorites time with the kids. Stella is always singing and they always play so sweet together. Thomas will protest when it is time to get out.

But he always gets over it.

Don't they still look so much alike?

S'more

Yummy....Tony made s'mores for the kids this week. Thomas shares his father sweet tooth!

Bask in his sweetness!

When did this happen?

When did it become the end of October?

We have so many fun things coming up...soccer tournaments, fall festivals, birthday parties and a movie surprise. We are surprising the twins this weekend with a movie in the park. They are playing Wizard of Oz on Saturday night....so we are going to pop some popcorn and take the family. I need this time with my family and this is my favorite time of year. I love the fall and all it brings. I love all of the holidays coming up. Thanksgiving will be especially fun and yummy this year because we will be in Tennessee with Grandma Stella and Grandpa Kerry.

Heavy hearted

I am so sad I can not see straight. I have so much work to do and all I can think about is Angela. I haven't spoken to her; just her mom. She is on her way back home. Her parents have put the baby swing and highchair away. Not sure if that will help or hurt. I hate being four hours away from her. Her mom suggested that I come up after her mom leaves. I know I am rambling a bit...my heart is so heavy tonight.

Baby Jack

Baby Jack passed away this morning at 4:06 am.

Baby Jack

Baby Jack was taken off of all his life support this evening. His parents are now with him in a family room until he passes. Pray for him and his family.

Reason # 12

A couple months ago, Tony had a seizure. It was traumatizing for everyone. I was not calm and the kids woke up and we had paramedics in our house. Thomas was especially freaked out by the whole incident. My friend Erin came over to stay with the kids while I rode to the hospital with Tony. As we were getting into the ambulance, I could hear Thomas weeping, "Why are the police taking daddy away?"

Reason # 12 my children will be in therapy.

To date, when we see an ambulance, Thomas will say...remember when Daddy fell and broke the dog dishes and the police took him away?

No baby, those were paramedics not policemen. I can only hope that Thomas asks this questions at a very opportune moment;-)

I don't mean to brag...

...but both of our children are in bed sleeping which proves our theory that my husband and I are smarter than our children. It is just a theory and we are still working on it.

Weekend Plans

I am finally getting a chance to catch up on some computer work...

This is a pic of Stella and Thomas with their friend J. Thomas and J are always on the soccer field fooling around. We are excited that Papa is driving over to watch the game tomorrow. I am off to cook at Let's Eat with my friend Melissa!

A Letter to Terry

Dear Terry-

Thank you so much for finding my purse today and taking the time to track me down on campus. Thank you.

However I do need to point out that I do not appreciate that look...you know the one. It may be strange to you that I did not know my purse was gone. Give me a break. I was at work, in clean clothes and had not yet had my coffee. What do you expect? I would have figured it out eventually.

Sincerely,

Amy

Daddy Day Care

My wonderful husband took the kids to Monkey Joe's again today. They had so much fun together and since I could not be there, he took some video:

I think this place is in the running for the twins fourth birthday party.

Losing the battle...part two

The kids and I had a nice night at TNT. I am completely losing my battles with Stella regarding what she is wearing. This is what she had to wear to sing church songs:

Two people honestly asked me if she was taking dance lessons. Oh no, that is not a dance costume, that is what she wears to church. There is this wonderful mom there who I always talk to and she gave me some good advice;-)

Baby Jack

I just heard an update about baby Jack. He is stable although I hesitate to say he is doing better.

Angela and Merv asked for specific prayers for Jack to be able to eat. He can get better but if they do not figure out the missing link, specifically what is causing his body to attack anything he eats, then he will never be able to eat anything.

Losing the battle...

Moi?

Imagine my delight when Candace over at not that I don’t love my kids tagged me. A real blog…tagged me. Forgive me but this is exciting to me! I read these blogs and the woman (and men) put into words what I am feeling. It is like they can read my mind. Anyway….I have been tagged (by a real blog!!!!).

Benard Pivot's questionnaire made famous by Inside the Actor's Studio's James Lipton...

What is your favorite word? delightful

What is your least favorite word? no

What turns you on [creatively, spiritually or emotionally]? Intensity and wit

What turns you off? Meanness

What is your favorite curse word? Cover your ears for this one ya’ll….a good old fashion …. FUCK!!! Like in the car last week when someone cut me off and I said it and Stella said, “Mama, did you say fuck?” “Why yes I did.”

What sound or noise do you love? I love hearing my husband playing with my kids at night. I am usually in the kitchen and I can hear squeals and fits of laughter. Sweetness!

What sound or noise do you hate? My neighbor, T’s voice..oooo, I do hate her voice…a lot.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt? Nail technician or a travel agent

What profession would you not like to do? One featured on Dirty Jobs

If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? “The reason bad things happen to good people is…”

And now it is my turn to tag:

Life with Sam
2 be blissed
Lynn’s Law
The second happiest place on earth
Playgroups are no place for children
sweatpantsmom

Can wait to hear what ya'll have to say!

**Oh, Shannon, once God completed her sentence, I would promptly call down and let you know the answer too;-)**

Mother Code

I thought there was a mother code when it came to motherhood. I imagined having the twins and being welcomed with open arms into the secret society. My new mentors would then share with me the answers to all my questions.

Ha!

I guess the same way some girls don't understand girl code, some mother's do not understand the mother code.

Yes, I know what she is wearing. No, it does not match. At all. She is three and a half and wants to pick out her own clothes. I try my best to have her looking presentable but I also pick my battles. I do recognize that a pink skirt with silver sequins does not look right with a turquoise sparkly tank top.

I do not need the look. Read up on the mother code.

This is the day...

I am so tired but can not sleep. This week has felt draining...work and my dear friend, Angela. So I need something to make me feel better...so I blog.

Tonight the kids watched The Jungle Book.

They love anything with animals in it.

We had fun at TNT this week.

The kids are learning their songs and in a couple weeks will sing at two church services. I predict Stella will be front and center belting out "This is the day..." and Thomas will be my shy guy. Who knows...they do tend to surprise me!

They are singing this version:

not this one:

Although they are both catchy tunes.

We also had soccer practice and the kids are getting pretty good at maneuvering the balls.
We may even score a goal tomorrow!

Our family is good yet I can not keep the dreadful feeling out of the pit of my stomach. Thomas still crawls into bed with me in the morning and there is this brief period when I feel so good. Then I realize that something is terribly wrong. I just feel ill when I think about Angela and her new son.

I hold on to knowing that a mothers love is the strongest kind out there.

Baby Jack

I spoke to Baby Jack's dad today and they are really falling apart. I think the lack of sleep as well as the situation is really catching up with them. I did not get an update on his condition but it does not sound like the prognosis is good. Angela asked anyone who wanted to pray to pray for two specific purposes:

1. For Baby Jack to fulfill his life's purpose, whatever that may be and...

2. For Angela and Merv (his parents) to have guidance during this time and be able to sort through all the medical information and be able to make good decisions.

Baby Jack

No news about Baby Jack....not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

Baby Jack

Baby Jack is responding to medication and they are trying to stabilize his condition. He did code one time but they were able to revive him and he is doing better.

Baby Jack

Baby Jack has been flown to a hospital in Augusta, GA. The doctors told Angela that his body is not metabolizing proteins and he will undergo dialysis. He was flown via helicopter and Angela and her husband have to drive to be with him. Keep those prayers coming!

Baby Jack

Our friend Angela delivered baby Jack this week and they were both doing well. Jack has some high levels of acidity and has been moved to the special care unit. The doctors are running some tests to find out more but baby Jack and his family need you to send prayers and good thoughts their way.

Let's pretend I am early for next year!

I know it looks like the number '28' on Miss Kelly's cake but let's just pretend that it is the number '27'...(her real age). Ha!

Have your cake and...

Isn't this a beautiful cake?

Stella and Thomas helped me make it for Miss Kelly. I am pretty sure her internet is still not working so I hope I am not spoiling any surprises for tomorrow.

Thomas is obsessed with the cake. I knew that we would have to make another cake that we could eat tonight after dinner. We cut up all sorts of yummy vegetables from Orlando Organics and in hopes of off setting the effects of the cake and this is how our of dinner conversation went:

Thomas: Momma, can I have cake now?

Momma: No, eat your salad.

Thomas: Can I have cake now?

Momma: No, eat your salad.

Thomas: Momma, can I have cake now?

Momma: No, eat your salad.

Thomas: Can I have cake now?

Momma: No, eat your salad.

Thomas: Momma, can I have cake now?

Momma: No, eat your salad.

Thomas: Can I have cake now?

Momma: No, eat your salad.

Do you feel crazy yet? I did!

All is quiet now because, yep you guessed it...Thomas finally was able to eat his cake.

We also received exciting news from our friend Angela.

She delivered Jackson Martin Rice today! Mom and baby Jack are doing great! Congratulations Merv, Angela, and Sidney!!

Mom Song

To the moon and back...

When the twins were first born, I never, ever thought we would find someone that I felt comfortable leaving them with. Heck, I left my own mother a four page instruction sheet the first time!

However as Tony and I sat across from Kelly that one night in Panera Bread over three years ago...I just knew.

Kelly is part of our family and we want to wish her a very happy birthday!!

Miss Kelly has been thrown up on, pooped on, spit up on...

she has consoled, read, fed, soothed, redirected, calmed, entertained, etc...

...And as she says to the kids...

We love you to the moon and back. Happy Birthday Miss Kelly!
